Senegal is getting ready to Parade the Africa Cup of Nations trophy before they play a game against Peru in Paris this Saturday. This is happening even though the Confederation of African Football took the title away from them.
The Lions of Teranga won what they thought was their Africa Cup of Nations title on January 18. They beat Morocco 1-0 after time. The game was really crazy at the end. The Senegal players walked off the field when Morocco got a penalty kick while the game was still tied.
Then the Confederation of African Football changed the result of the game last week. They said Morocco won 3-0 instead. Senegal did not agree with this decision. They asked the Court of Arbitration for Sport to look at the case. The court said they will make a decision soon as they can. Even though there is still a dispute about the game the Senegalese Football Federation is going to celebrate the Africa Cup of Nations trophy on Saturday at the Stade de France.
The president of the Senegalese Football Federation Abdoulaye Fall is really upset about the decision. He thinks it is unfair. He said “The Senegalese Football Federation does not accept this decision. We think it is wrong. We will not give up.”
He also said “Senegal will not back down. We will keep fighting for what we think is right. This is not, about football anymore.”
Senegal is still saying they won the Africa Cup of Nations title. They are not going to stop fighting for it. The Senegalese Football Federation is going to keep saying that Senegal won the Africa Cup of Nations title.
