His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit today presided over the swearing-in ceremony of newly appointed government officials at the State House in Juba, calling on the people of South Sudan to remain calm, united, and focused on peace.
Among those sworn in was Hon. Peter Chaleman Cawach as Presidential Advisor for Peace. A respected member of the National Transitional Legislative Assembly and an elder statesman, Hon. Chaleman is widely recognized for his role in advancing peace and stability, particularly in the Upper Nile region. His appointment is expected to reinforce ongoing peace initiatives.
Hon. Dr. Joseph Nguen Monytuil also took oath as Governor of Unity State. Having previously served in the same capacity, he is credited with promoting stability across the greater Unity area. His reappointment has raised greater expectations for continued progress in peacebuilding and development.

The ceremony further included the swearing in of three Deputy Governors: Hon. Isaac Luka Manga (Lakes State), Hon. William Gatjang Giing (Unity State), and Hon. Karlo Andrew Akwo Ajert (Eastern Equatoria State), reflecting the governmentās continued commitment to inclusive governance and the implementation of the peace agreement.
In his remarks, President Kiir directed the newly appointed officials to prioritize peace, service delivery, and cooperation across all levels of government. He stressed the importance of strengthening unity among the signatories to the peace agreement and called for renewed efforts to foster social cohesion across communities. āWe have all witnessed what war does. We believe we should stop from here. Then we must find a way of getting solutions and we must work together to solve our problems,ā President Kiir said.
