On Saturday, Manchester City defeated Liverpool 4-0 in the FA Cup Quarter Final at the Etihad and booked a place in the semi-finals. Erling Haaland scored a hat-trick and was one of the key impacts in Man City’s fantastic performance.
The first half was very even until shortly before half-time when Virgil Van Dijk gave away a penalty which was converted by Haaland who then scored an excellent header shortly thereafter to make the score 2-0 at the break.
The first goal of the second half, a wonderful goal by Antoine Semenyo who was assisted by the exceptional Rayan Cherki, put the score at 3-0 for Man City early on in the second half and the fourth goal would also come through Haaland, who completed his hat-trick through excellent team play by Man City to make it 4-0 before the 60th minute.
As the score was 4-0, Mohamed Salah had a penalty kick saved by James Trafford which completes an incredibly disappointing night for Liverpool, where many of the traveling Liverpool supporters left long before the end of the game, due to the team’s poor and disorganized defensive display. Pep Guardiola, who was watching from the stand, will be very happy with City’s performance as they followed their League Cup Final victory with another entertaining and dominant performance.
