Twenty-seven 27 South Sudanese nationals detained in Ethiopia have been released

๐‰๐ฎ๐›๐š, ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ”๐ญ๐ก ๐๐จ๐ฏ๐ž๐ฆ๐›๐ž๐ซ ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ“- Twenty-seven (27) South Sudanese nationals detained in Ethiopia have been released and received in Juba International AirPort on Sunday 16th November 2025.

Their release follows weeks of coordinated diplomatic engagement led by the Office of the Senior Presidential Envoy for Special Programs, in close collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the South Sudanese Embassy in Addis Ababa.

At Juba International Airport, the Executive Director in the Office of the Senior Presidential Envoy, Mr. Wol Akol, represented the Envoy office during the reception of the returnees.

The Embassy of South Sudan in Ethiopia also provided on-ground consular support throughout the process.

The Senior Presidential Office expresses its profound gratitude to the Government of Ethiopia for its cooperation and efforts in facilitating the release of the detainees.
